Double Scissors Soccer Academy - "Here to create"
About Us:
Coach Stefan Clemens founded Double Scissors Soccer Academy in 2010 in the Bay Area, CA. Stefan played youth competitive soccer with the Lamorinda Soccer Club under coach and mentor Mohamed Mohamed (current Director of Coaching for LMSC), and continued with the Club from U8 to U18. Stefan attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, under coach Paul Holocher (current San Jose Earthquakes Academy director and coach). Stefan played with the Slugs Men's team for four years in Division III NCAA, reaching the National championship game and placing 2nd in the country in 2004. Since graduating from UCSC in 2009 with a bachelors degree in Global Economics, Stefan has played professional soccer in Germany, Fiji, and the United States, his most recent stint with pro indoor team Bay Area Rosal. Stefan has played amateur soccer in the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League) with the Bay Area Ambassadors, IFX Ballistic, and Santa Clara Sporting, as well as in the SFSFL (San Francisco Soccer Football League) with Fas Rosal, Mexicali, and now the SF Glens. Training abroad has been monumental in development. Fiji futball is played on a rough surface so there is a high demand for technical ability. German futball is physical, technical, and methodical. Stefan trained with Fluminence in Brazil in 2007, where he was most inspired by the young Brazilian futballers magical cutting and weaving through defenders. In 2011, Stefan had the opportunity to travel to Spain to study the wise tactics of FC Barcelona. Two weeks watching and analyzing Barca training sessions, attending FCB's La Liga and Champions League matches in Camp Nou, and observing the Barca youth system in their beautiful facilities from trainings to games. In 2014, Stefan again traveled abroad with a group of high level coaches to study the youth soccer systems in England. Stefan visited and observed youth to senior teams at Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, and Southampton. The most exciting and memorable moment for Stefan was stepping onto the pitch at Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford. Currently, Stefan is the volunteer assistant coach for the Cal men's soccer team.
